Diagrams and illustrations
Over 1,200 diagrams and illustrations demonstrate concepts in a clear and memorable fashion. The set includes:
- over 250 illustrations of plants and animals, covering a wide range of flora and fauna distinguish your bee-eater from your bird of paradise!
- over 100 images illustrating musical instruments and concepts from the cittern to counterpoint, this resource can make your project a highly engaging, attractive musical authority. These artworks are designed to correpond to our set of musical audio clips.
- a flag for each of the sovereign nations of the world, plus state flags for US and Australian states and British territories.
Photographs
Over 3,500 high-quality photographic images have been chosen to complement our text data, covering everything from aboriginal rock painting and aircraft engines to zigguarts and Emile Zola.
Audio files
Suitable for educational as well as general use, our library of over 700 audio clips includes:
- national anthems.
- extracts from readings of literary works.
- classical musical extracts, including orchestral and piano works, and solo instruments.

All clips are accompanied by captions, and can be linked to brief glossary definitions or supplied as part of a larger package of text and multimedia.
Animations and animated diagrams
Helicon's collection of over 60 animated files clearly explain concepts and systems in a memorable format. Designed for educational use, each of the animated files has been selected with the advice of educational advisers.
Two kinds of animated files are available:
- animations short videos demonstrating a concept or process, with a narrated explanation.
- animated diagrams simpler, moving diagrams, without narration.
Videos
Short video clips illustrate topics in an entertaining, clear, and memorable fashion. A selection of video files is available for use in online projects, covering topics ranging from the construction of the Berlin Wall to an eclipse of the Sun.
Maps
Helicon can also offer an extensive range of cartographic data, covering countries, continents, and regions of the world.
