Web links
Helicon maintains a large set of links to online resources, hand-picked by a team of editors. Each is accompanied by a short description of the site, enabling users to decide for themselves which sites they consider worth a visit.
To ensure that URLs are kept up-to-date, and that any site is removed if its content becomes unsuitable, we provide a redirect service via the Helicon Web site. Instead of a direct pointer to the site, the URL supplied with the data points to a program on our own Web server, which redirects the user to the up-to-date URL for the site required.
A subset of educational Web links is also available, audited by teachers for their relevance to GCSE study. As an additional feature to address parental concern about excessive advertising on the Web, these entries flag up sites that contain adverts.
